The only impossible journey:
“The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.”
– Tony Robbins
The meaning behind the quote:
It’s interesting to see people scoff behind the idea Tony Robbins presents here. It’s no different than the message behind the quote by Michael Jordan, “you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”
Here’s the pessimistic view (what they may call ‘realist’) that hold back a lot of people from living a life they deserve:

Tony Robbins sucks.

Right? What a stupid and disingenuous quote.
There are infinite impossible journeys people can undertake. He personifies rah-rah impractical click-bait — for every person he inspires, another 100 end up starting something they’d be better off not having begun, who might have been better off being inspired to pursue something at the upper-limits of what’s realistically attainable for them in light of their resource constraints and limitations.

these “you can do anything” quotes piss me off. I’m deaf but my journey to be a foley artist is hindered only by my lack of effort, apparently.
There’s an obvious distinction we should make that you can’t “brb… going to fly to center of the sun and back.” I think it goes without saying it has to be within the bounds of reality, if you’re 5’1 and 24 years old I’d wager you’re not going to get drafted by the Los Angeles Laker and play alongside Lebron.

Jim Rohn has this quote,
“I’ll tell you what changed my whole life: I finally discovered that it’s all risky. The minute you got born it got risky. If you think trying is risky, wait until they hand you the bill for not trying.”
The meaning of this quote is we should realize that life is too short to play it safe.
That by playing it safe it can feel comfortable but it may come at a cost. There’s opportunity and trade off costs to every decision. The job at wall-street may have a nice bonus but walking away to start a business may seem stupid, but if it’s something you believe in, is it really that stupid? Would you look back at life lying on your death bed happy you took that bonus?
“Don’t ask for security, ask for adventure.”

That story of the wall-street bonus is the story of Jeff Bezos starting Amazon.
The mental model he describes that made him take the leap of faith he refers to as, “the regret minimization framework.”
When faced with a difficult decision, fast-forward to the end of your life and ask yourself, what path would lead me to have the most regret?
Warren Buffett has entered the chat…
“Rule #1 of investing, don’t lose money. Rule #2 don’t forget rule #1”
You want to make a decision you’ll be happy you took even if it failed.
But it’s not advisable you risk everything on it. That’s not the mark of a great entrepreneur. You may lose money on the venture but don’t allow for it to make you go bust. Give yourself the wiggle room to stay in the arena to fight another battle should it fail.
If you’re risk adverse and want to play it conservatively then follow the advice of Jim Rohn. “I’m working full-time on my job, but now I’m working part-time on my fortune.”
But remember, “The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.”
