In a podcast with Joscha Bach, he mentions that we don’t exist in the physical world. We do exist inside of the story the brain tells itself. Your brain is not capable of feeling anything, neurons don’t feel, they are physical things. Physical systems are unable to feel anything.
But what would be very useful for the organism is to know what it would be like to be a person, to feel something. So it creates a model of such a person based on the interactions of that person. It’s the best model of what that brain, that organism thinks it is in relationship to it’s environment. It creates and lives in that model, it’s a story, a mutli-media novel that the brain is continuously writing and updating.

It’s our responsibility and duty to find the positive meaning in the suffering or the pain.
Two people can live through the same experience and arrive at completely different destinations. This doesn’t happen by luck or chance, but by choice.
We can accept the worse or assume the best. The choice is ours to make depending on the kind of life we’d like to lead.
