3. “Everyone has a past. I have mine, you have yours, and we have ours. No matter what it takes, I will prove to you that our past, no matter how hurtful, didn’t ruin the future we could have. There’s only you and me and what could be.” – Melissa Foster
4. “We’re affected by what we feel. How you feel about the past (faults, failures, losses.) Use it as a school, not a club, let the past be a school, let the past be a teacher, not to threaten you, but to teach you” – Jim Rohn

Everyone has a past meaning:
We often look to the past to judge a person’s character. We bring our resume to an interview and it lists all past employment and achievement.
But is that the best measure or predictor of future behavior?
That’s a tougher question.
For most people the truth is yes. People as they get older tend to not want to change. They become rigid in their approach because they have confined themselves to living in a box, they given themselves an identity. Open mindedness and exploration is a rarer quality to find.

We’re all capable of change, but it begins with choice or desire to become more. And so for you the future may not equal the past. You don’t have to let he past define you except by choice.
As Jim Rohn puts it, “let the past be a teacher” let it instruct you, but don’t let it abuse you. For some it can be a hard-school and that’s okay, use the lessons learned to your future benefit.
